Pocket Alex Travels is an art project by me, Aude Li Sing, aka The French Fury, aimed at helping the spirit of my late husband Alexis to see and travel the world he never had the chance to explore.

After a lifelong battle, Alexis lost his fight with depression on 18 January 2018.

Taking photos of a paper/basswood puppet opens you up to a lot of inquisitive looks and questions from passers-by. My goal has been to start the dialogue on how important it is to take care of one's mental health, how to be an ally to those with mental illnesses, and how to help. Just as there is nothing wrong about loving someone of the same sex/gender, being a POC, or being a woman, there's nothing scandalous about having a brain that's wired differently from what is considered the norm.

If you are interested in your own Pocket Alex, you can get one here. Proceeds are donated quarterly to non-profit organisations Alexis championed. If you'd like to get in touch, you can do so through the Contact page.
